Dear Friends of Catholic Climate Covenant,
My name is EJ Acworth, and I’m an 11th-grader in Danvers, Massachusetts. I am so excited to be involved in the Youth Mobilization program at Catholic Climate Covenant. As a young Catholic environmentalist, I am committed to clean, alternative energy research and want to do more frontline work addressing climate change.
The Covenant has helped me grow more confident in public speaking and testimony opportunities for their Youth Mobilization program. Last year, I participated in a climate summit at BC High School in Boston, thanks to the education and preparation provided by Catholic Climate Covenant. After high school, I want to study aerospace engineering and business management so I can contribute to the research and development of new technologies to reduce emissions in airplane travel.
So here is why I am reaching out — to ask you to consider making a donation to support the Catholic Climate Covenant. Your gift has an impact on young people like me, who work in many high schools across the country to mobilize their peers in support of climate advocacy, clean energy awareness, and public engagement.
Working with Kayla Jacobs, the Youth Mobilization program manager, and Katie Zakrzewski, the Covenant’s Communications Manager, gave me a new perspective and helped me develop my ability to work with others. Their guidance helped me take a leadership role in talking with the media, appearing on the Catholic TV show This Is The Day with Bishop Robert Reed, and in speaking at our local Boston Lobby Day.
The Covenant has inspired my commitment to the environment and to my faith. Your gift makes it possible for other students like me to engage with Catholic Climate Covenant.
Thank you for giving today, and impacting tomorrow,
EJ Acworth
