Magnifica Humanitas

Pope Leo XVI’s first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas (“Magnificent Humanity“), On Safeguarding the Human Person in the Time of Artificial Intelligence), was released on May 25th, 2026. In it, Pope Leo calls on us to join the global and ethical conversation about artificial intelligence (A.I.), human dignity, and building a future centered on humanity. It invites us to consider the profound impacts that rapid technological advancement has on labor, social justice, and the common good of all people. Pope Leo offers a clear moral reminder that technology must serve the common good, protect human dignity, and respect God’s creation.
