Marian Hopkins

Board Member

Marian Hopkins is a seasoned public policy expert with over three decades of experience shaping strategies and advocating for impactful policy initiatives in the private and public sectors.

From 1991 to 2017, Ms. Hopkins served at the Business Roundtable (BRT), where she rose to the role of Senior Vice President for Policy in 2012. In this capacity, she directed the development and execution of BRT’s comprehensive public policy agenda. She played a pivotal role in creating and launching BRT’s 2012 CEO policy agenda, Taking Action for America: A CEO Plan for Jobs and Economic Growth.

During her tenure at BRT, Ms. Hopkins spearheaded policy development and advocacy efforts across energy, environment, regulatory reform, labor law, and information technology, including cybersecurity and homeland security. She led key committees such as the Energy and Environment Committee and the Select Committee on Regulatory Reform, driving critical discussions and solutions on these issues.

Ms. Hopkins was instrumental in shaping major BRT publications, including a decade of the sustainability report Create, Grow, Sustain, as well as groundbreaking statements on national energy policy, such as More Diverse, More Domestic, More Efficient.

Before joining BRT, Ms. Hopkins served as Director, Senate Liaison for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where she developed and implemented lobbying strategies on critical issues for the Chamber’s members. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Legislative Assistant for U.S. Senator S. I. Hayakawa (R-CA).

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Ms. Hopkins served on the Board of Trustees for the National Museum of Women in the Arts from 2017 to 2019.

Ms. Hopkins earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California, Irvine, and currently resides in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
