Pilgrimage of Creation: Holy Trinity Parish

Holy Trinity Catholic Church’s Staff (Social Justice Minister, Communications Director, Director of Liturgy, Director of Ignition Spirituality), and members of the parish Green Team met and planned the entire Season of Creation. Any one part can be adapted for a parish’s unique needs.

Season of Creation at Holy Trinity
The annual celebration of the Season of Creation invites the world’s 2.6 billion Christians to prayer and action to protect Earth, our common home and to discern the guidance it offers us for bringing about the New Creation of which Jesus spoke. The Green Team in collaboration with other campus ministries invites you to celebrate throughout the month:

September 1: Self- Guided Pilgrimage. We invite you to walk through the Holy Trinity gardens to pray for the grace to encounter Christ in Creation and renew your relationships with God, the Earth, and one another. Pilgrimage begins at the Upper School entrance. Concludes October 4.

September 7: Mass for Creation | Speaker: Marisa Vertrees, National Campaign Director, Union of Concerned Scientists, 10:15am, Trinity Hall

September 14: Visit with Catholic Climate Covenant, City Blossoms, A Rocha, Potomac Riverkeepers & the HT Green Team; McKenna Hall

September 21: Visit with Interfaith Power & Light, Trace Zero Waste, HT Gardeners, Catholic Climate Covenant & HT Green Team; McKenna Hall

September 28: Eco Examen with Ignatian Spirituality, 10:15am, Chapel of St. Ignatius

Self Guided Pilgrimage Information:

The Self-Guided Pilgrimage was set out around the main church and school building in the various small gardens (Trinity is a very urban parish with limited green space). At each stop along the Pilgrimage path there was a sign which was created from the power point below.

At the end of the Pilgrimage (the last slide in the power point), the pilgrim is asked to pause and commit their  intention:

Thank you for making time to pray and reflect during this Season of Creation. We invite you to pause and to commit your intention to our Earth by tying a biodegradable ribbon on the trellis.
