WASHINGTON, D.C. — Catholic Climate Covenant is pleased to announce that the Board of Directors of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in Houston, Texas, has approved a $30,000 Dubuis Grant to support the Covenant’s work to mobilize youth and young adults in caring for creation and expand Hispanic outreach and mobilization.

The grant will advance Catholic Climate Covenant’s efforts to engage the next generation of Catholic environmental leaders and strengthen connections with Hispanic communities, inviting more people to put their faith into action through care for our common home.

“Young people and Hispanic communities are essential partners in the Catholic Church’s response to the climate crisis,” said Dan Misleh, Founder and Executive Director of Catholic Climate Covenant. “We are deeply grateful to the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word for this generous support. This investment will help us deepen relationships, equip more people to lead, and build a broader, more inclusive Catholic movement dedicated to caring for creation.”

Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching and the Church’s call to environmental stewardship, Catholic Climate Covenant inspires and equips Catholic individuals, parishes, schools, institutions, and organizations to address the climate crisis. By investing in youth and young adult leadership and expanding outreach to Hispanic communities, the Covenant seeks to foster meaningful participation in creation care across generations and cultures.

The Dubuis Grant reflects the Congregation’s commitment to supporting organizations that serve communities in need and advance work that makes a lasting difference. Catholic Climate Covenant looks forward to building on this support to strengthen its outreach, cultivate new leaders, and encourage more Catholics to embrace their shared responsibility to protect our common home.

“Throughout the school year, we work closely with high school students across the country,” said Kayla Jacobs, Youth Mobilization Program Manager for the Covenant. “Through our formation and community-building efforts, the students take leadership in their communities and are equipped with the skills to take effective action to care for God’s creation. This is only possible through the support and generosity of donors like the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. We, and the student leaders, are so grateful.”

Catholic Climate Covenant is grateful to the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word for its partnership and confidence in this mission.
