The Secular Franciscan Order – USA has published an ongoing formation packet and lesson plan on Sister Water.
- It can be used year-round and during any year. Likewise, it fits nicely with this year’s Season of Creation theme: Living Water, and with the 800th Jubilee of the Easter of St. Francis of Assisi.
It is intended for fraternities in OFS-USA, but can be easily adapted for other organizations, including non-Franciscan groups.
Every region of the world experiences some type of water issues: too much, too little, too far away, too polluted, etc. By focusing on Sister Water, we live Article 18 of the OFS General Constitutions:
“Following the example of Francis, patron of ecologists, they should actively put forward initiatives that care for creation and should work with others in efforts that both put a stop to polluting and degrading nature and also establish circumstances of living and environment which would not be a threat to the human person.”
