This is my response to the tragedy of Ukraine and the widening chasm that is developing among people of differing outlooks. In Ancient Greece the Three Graces were Aglaia (Splendor), Euphrosyne ,(Mirth) and Thalia (Good Cheer). They were the muses that taught humanity grace and beauty. We have collectively turned our back on them. In this painting I show the Sorrowful Graces: Despair, Sorrow and Exhaustion. I suspect each and every one of us will identify with at least one of them. Hopefully we can work together to return them to their former glory. We are in this together.
