National Catholic Youth Conference a Success!

Overall it was a great weekend. The students (and chaperones) decorated 22 raised garden beds (made from recycled wood), packed 200 packets of herb and flower seeds (plus more from whatever they took home) and decorated over 200 “tree cookies” (ornaments cut from tree limbs).  They learned about the Catholic Climate Covenant Youth Mobilization program and answered trivia questions to learn more about the ecology, Saints, and caring for our common home.

We talked with many people from ArchIndy and beyond (Hawaii!). At least one special guest stopped by – Bishop Doherty from Lafayette, IN. He was very impressed and positive about the work.

The organizers of the conference were happy with the projects.

Here were some comments from the kids:

“I love this!”

“This was my favorite project”

“I love that you incorporated local seeds” (Sister Sheila brought some wildflower seeds from their garden)

“I didn’t know that” – heard that one a lot from the trivia question on Vatican solar panels.

Thank you to all the youth and supporters who attended – see you in 2025!
