Voting and Our Common Home: Reflections from the Catholic Tradition

Voting is an important way for Catholics to live their faith, which as Pope Francis said in Evangelii Gaudium,  “always involves a deep desire to change the world, to transmit values, to leave this earth somehow better than we found it”

In this webinar we will explore important themes in Church teachings, consider how they might help us in our voting decisions and reflect on how Catholics might:

  • Form their consciences and appreciate Church teaching that affirms the primacy of a well-formed conscience
  • Recognize how values are interconnected and transcend and inform our approach to issues
  • Better understand and engage the fullness of Church teaching on voting
  • Help equip Catholics for conscientious, values-based voting discernment

Presenters:
1) Most Reverend Joseph Tyson, Bishop Yakima
2) Dr. Daniel R. DiLeo is associate professor and director of the Justice and Peace Studies Program, Creighton University
