Inspired by past Lenten Calendars from the Archdiocese of Washington Care for Creation Committee and Interfaith Power & Light (DC.MD.NoVA), Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Durham, has produced an Advent Calendar with daily ideas for spiritual reflection and actions to care for the poor and our common home.

Catholic Climate Covenant and the Laudato Si’ Movement: Similarities, Differences, and How You Can Engage With Us

A conversation about the related yet distinct missions of Catholic Climate Covenant and Laudato Si' Movement. . We are two organizations both working on care for creation, and sometimes we hear: Are they the same organization? Do they work on the same things? What makes them different?

Staff and volunteers from both organizations describe our similar missions, different approaches, and complementary values and love for creation. We also provide practical ways in which you can engage with both organizations in efforts to advance care for creation in our Church, nation, and world.

SPECIAL NOTE: April 22, 2019 marks the 49th anniversary of Earth Day, a secular celebration that many faith communities have incorporated into their annual calendars for awareness and action. This year, Earth Day falls on the Saturday before Easter (April 22nd). Therefore, we recommend celebrating Earth Day during the Easter season or another date that suits your community's schedule.

How Our Food Choices Can Save the Planet

An information-packed webinar examining:

1) How our food system (the way we produce, transport, and consume food) is responsible for over a quarter of all greenhouse gas emissions.

2) How we can take action, both individually and as Catholic communities, to reduce our damaging “foodprints” on our common home.

During the past four years, parishes, schools, colleges and universities, healthcare facilities, and religious communities have responded with faith, passion, and enormous creativity to the Pope’s call to care for creation and care for the poor.
